Mindful Living at Home

Bringing Europe Home is featured in the ApartmentGuide's blog in an article entitled Mindful Living at Home: 13 Little Ways to Stay Intentional. The article is filled with simple changes we can make to be more present in our homes, and create a peaceful and supportive home environment.

I’m quoted in number 10: Take Your Time, talking about slow living and finding comfort in the simple pleasures of home. Slow living, just like slow traveling, means slowing down our everyday lives to stay more present, mindful and intentional. We’re bombarded daily with information, obligations and commitments from the outside world. But our home should be a refuge, a place to slow down and take comfort in the simple routines we enjoy each day, such as making that morning cup of coffee.

As I wrote in my post Home as Nourishment, our homes nurture and support us in many different ways. Many of us spend the majority of our time at home: working, exercising, relaxing and being with friends and family. By cultivating mindfulness in our homes, we can create an environment that supports us in body, mind and spirit, and in all our goals and endeavors.

Take a look at the ApartmentGuide article. It's filled with 13 creative solutions for creating a space that keeps us in the moment and supports both our intentions and our overall wellbeing. Whether that's surrounding ourselves with the colors we love and natural elements, decluttering, or creating a sacred space. Happy reading.

Hi, I’m Lori Cronwell. As a writer and frequent traveler, I admire the values most Europeans embrace: choosing quality over quantity; residing in smaller, more sustainable homes; working less and spending more time with friends and family.

Those values were key in my decision to drastically downsize to a 700 sq. ft. accessory dwelling unit (ADU) with the goal of creating a simpler, more sumptuous life with time for travel.

Slow travel, that is. Spending more time in one place — even if it’s just a week. You'll not only spend less, you'll discover a deeper and more meaningful travel experience.

Please subscribe below and join me on a journey to find affordable ways to explore Europe in the slow lane and to live a more European lifestyle every day of our lives.
