Sunday Post: Road
Do you know Jake? He’s the host of the blog Jakesprinter, and a photographer, graphic artist and creator of some very impressive computer images. He posts a new challenge theme each week and introduces the theme with a written definition and his own snazzy graphics. I’m joining in this week’s challenge, “road.”
This solid, stone lined road leads to the Eilean Donan Castle in Scotland. I hope that it also leads you to Jake’s site and that it paves the way for the next destination on this site.

Oh my – I’ve been there – even have a picture of my own that I have on a wall. Glad I found your site.
Thank you so much, Rosemary. I’m glad I found your site, as well. And…what a terrific scene to hang on a wall!
Wow, don’t see much of that in Ohio. Very lovely.
Thanks for stopping by my blog recently. I appreciate it.
We don’t see much of that in Georgia, either. But we still have the photos!
And, you’re welcome, Carrie. I do enjoy your blog, and I’ll be stopping by often.
That looks like something out of a dream! My dreams for sure
!
It was almost otherworldly. The heavy gray clouds that hung over the place only added to the mystique.
Beautiful picture Robin! Makes me want to drive up to Scotland!
Work that in, once the Olympics leave town, why don’t you? And stop at a distillery while you’re at it. (I insited on a tour of a Scotch Whiskey distillery when we were there, so we left the country with a lovely liquid souvenir.) I’m sure you could get Tim on board for that, couldn’t you, now?
Beautiful photo! Your Scottish theme is tempting me to investigate Scotland for my next trip
A perfect choice for your next stop in your wanderings around the world, Madhu!
Now there’s an inspiration for so many stories!
Once upon a time, a road led to a castle…
Love! We toured here in 2003–great memories!
We loved it too.
Beautiful castle, beautiful photo. I definitely would love to travel on the solid stone road leadiing to the castle!
It takes you back in time, for sure!
I would love to travel on this road 1 day soon. Thanks for sharing & I’ve checked out Jake’s great site ;-D
Well then, I hope you do, Cupcake.
Beautiful shot Robin! I’ve seen a lot of photos of this castle but never one quite like that, it’s a cracker. Next time I’m up there I might try to recreate it.
A lovely interpretation for the challenge, and I’m off to have a look at Jake’s blog…
Thank you so much, Lorna. I love that you think the photo’s a cracker–(there’s another great British term that I’ll be chuffed to introduce into my vocabulary).
Yes, do pay a visit to Eilean Donan; the area is sure to have a tearoom tucked away somewhere, don’t you think?
Good strong image for the theme, Robin. The road to a Scottish castle can never be a bad thing.
Well put, Jo. Thank you!
That’s a lovely photo Robin. Did you go to Skye while you were there? It’s such a beautiful area – we love Scotland! (Is there anywhere you haven’t been in Europe?!)
We did try to work Skye into our itinterary when we were there, but sadly, we couldn’t manage it. We loved Scotland, too, and I’d be thrilled to take another trip there. We did cross a lot off of our “check list of Europe” =D , but there is plenty that we did not see. Provence, for starters–and that is at the top of my list for my next European destination.
Glad you like the photo, Cathy.
It looks like a place where a strapping Highlander will come down the road on his white steed to greet you. It reminds me of a Scottish castle I have imagined in my head as I am reading one of my roamance novels. Awesome photo, Robin!
Yes, we saw him! But he wasn’t on a white steed; he was inside the castle, displaying swords. Glad you like the photo, Jamie. Thank you!
Even better in the castle displaying swords. How cool your experience must have been!
Great work for this week theme my friend thanks for sharing
It was fun!
I remember Scotland so well. The passage in the train from London to Glasgow was memorable.
I’ll bet it was a gorgeous ride!
A road I would love to travel. Very nice!
And it is a well traveled road. Thanks, Elisa.
I like a good Scottish castle.
Yeah. What’s not to like?
Beautiful photo
And I will be checking out Jake’s site thank you!
Cheers
Choc Chip Uru
Thanks, Choc Chip Uru. Jake is as much of a wizard at graphics as you are at baking!
Probably one of the most photographed castles in Scotland, but what a nice different angle to it. Lovely interpretation.
Glad you like the interpretation, Rough Seas.
(And thank you for the fact check! We had it marked wrong in our files. Glad it was you who noticed it!)
Love your photo!
Thank you, Darlene. I like it, too.
