Quotes from the Masters: Bacon
I’m on vacation. I haven’t been checking in on my blog or yours, lately, and I look forward to catching up when I return home. Still, I happened across an apropos quote for my present state of mind, and I decided to put together a quick post for my weekly “Quotes from the Masters” series.
It’s not winter where I am, (but it’s winter somewhere), and I thought this photo paired nicely with the quote.
We have only this moment, sparkling like a star in our hand–and melting like a snowflake.” Sir Francis Bacon
I saw these words displayed across the wall of the very excellent Monterey Aquarium, and I thought that it would be the perfect quote for the week. I invite you to use it as you like to inspire your own post. If you do, please link back to this page and add a link to your post in the comments section here.
For now, my husband and I are with all of our children on a family vacation, and I am enjoying every moment.

Amazing photo! Quotes like that make me stop and put things into perspective! Thanks!
Thank you! I’m so glad you like the photo and the quote–that quote made me stop and reflect when I saw it, too.

Hope you are having a wonderful time Robin. I just don’t seem to have a photo to match your lovely quote. Might have to give this one a miss
Beautiful quote and very true, great moments & bad are always fleeting…
It’s quite silly as I always think of the artist Francis Bacon, but something tells me he was more into painting, kinky things and horse stables in general!
I believe that this is a different Bacon–the Sir one…
Lovely quote. Not one I’ve heard before. Lovely.
I love Monterey’s Aquarium, San Fran and its climate! Cheers to you! You could be melting in this Atlanta heat wave, as the only thing sparkling right now is the sweat on our foreheads!!! Beautiful quote. Love the pic as it offers my mind respite from this heat; skiing sounds good right now.
Have a wonderful rest of vacation my friend
Also thank you for posting!
Cheers

It looks so nice and cool in that photo….
Fabulous photo, perfect quote. May every moment of your time together sparkle, yet still endure in memories forever.
A beautiful quote for the post card-like snow scenery! It’s such a treat to see the snow photo in the heat of the summer… Thanks!
Enjoy the rest of your vacation Robin! Thanks for this photo, which was just what I needed to cool me down in the heat we’ve been having! I shall now look through some snowy photos of my own to continue the “chilling” process! It’s a lovely quote too.
I hope you’re having a wonderful vacation and a most relaxing and enjoyable time with your family. I’ll have to give this one a bit of thought, but will attempt to do a post soon, thank you for the quote, and for posting such a beautiful picture.
