Travel theme: Rhythm
The Travel Theme posted this week by Ailsa at Where’s My Backpack is Rhythm. I thought that was a lovely choice, because I’m a musical kind of gal. She asked, “Do you have a favorite place that is defined by rhythm?” Though it is difficult for me to choose a favorite place, one country that seems to me to be defined by rhythm is Spain. We were fortunate enough to be entertained by these flamenco dancers and the distinctive rhythm of their music during our visit to Andalusia.
But I must say that when I think of “rhythm” as it relates to my travels, I think of something that we never captured on film: the rhythm of life. It was those grocery-shopping bike rides that I made to our local German village, those family walks to the ice-cream stand, those regular biergarten gatherings with friends that set the pace of life for us when we lived there. And that rhythm is what I try to recreate here at home in Atlanta–by shopping with a basket, by growing, buying, and making fresh food, by attempting to slow down and enjoy this beautiful world and the wonderful people in it.
